Andrea Sodomaco

Born in 1971 in Trieste, where I currently reside, I built my career path starting from a solid scientific foundation. I attended a scientific high school, and in 1990, I was selected to represent Italy at the International Mathematical Olympiad in Beijing, an experience that consolidated my approach to problem-solving.

I obtained a degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Trieste, completing my academic training with an experimental thesis in the field of image processing carried out in Switzerland at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL).

I entered the workforce in 1998 on an entrepreneurial track. I co-founded a real estate portal, recognizing early on the potential of the web for the real estate sector. As the Technical Manager, I brought the portal to national visibility until its acquisition by investors.

Between 2000 and 2003, I moved to Milan to work at a system integrator focused on the web. In this structured corporate context, I held the roles of Project Manager and Team Leader, eventually coordinating various teams and over 30 people. I managed complex enterprise projects for top-tier clients such as RCS (Corriere della Sera) and Rinascente, handling both technological choices and the management of budgets and resources.

Upon returning to Trieste, I combined my technical and managerial experience in my current role as Co-founder and CTO of XLbit. Here, I designed and developed the entire platform for the tourism portal YesAlps.com. YesAlps is a point of reference for tourism in the Italian Alps. The goal of YesAlps is to provide holiday information in the Alpine area, connecting accommodation facilities with potential customers. YesAlps connects hundreds of thousands of tourists with over 10,000 accommodation facilities, including hotels, B&Bs, and residences.

Alongside my work activity, I have maintained a multidisciplinary approach that includes studies in psychology and a recent Executive Master in Big Data and AI. Today, I operate as an IT Solution Architect with a complete vision of the stack: from programming in Assembly, C++, Java, and Python, to advanced MySQL and NoSQL database management. I master the Google Cloud ecosystem and container technologies like Docker, always prioritizing concrete and functional solutions over passing technology trends.
